Steps to Becoming an RBT in Virginia:
- Meet the Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a background check.
- Complete the 40-Hour RBT Training
- Enroll in an RBT training course approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- The training covers essential topics such as behavior reduction, skill acquisition, ethics, and data collection.
- Training can be completed online or in-person.
- Pass the RBT Competency Assessment
- A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a qualified supervisor will evaluate your skills in a one-on-one setting.

- Schedule & Pass the RBT Exam

- The exam consists of 85 multiple-choice questions covering all aspects of ABA therapy.
